Why WhatsApp compresses a photo
By default, the WhatsApp messenger compresses photos and other images when sending, if their size is too large. You can’t disable this inconvenient function, so many people think about how to get around it so that the interlocutor can get a good quality picture. Make it easy, you just need to know the little tricks.

Allowed size of photos to be sent to Vatsap
A few years ago, the WhatsApp messenger received an update, thanks to which users can not only change the font size, but also share files of different types with each other. However, the developers limited their size by setting the maximum allowable limit that cannot be removed or increased. So, iPhone owners can send files up to 128 MB in size. For Android smartphones, the maximum is 100 MB, and for the web version, only 64 MB. You can of course change the photo in vatsap to a smaller size, but this is not a solution.
How to send photos to WhatsApp without compression
Reducing the size spoils the quality of the photo. Such pictures can be viewed on a mobile device, but they are not suitable for subsequent printing. There are two ways to share photos on WhatsApp without compromising on quality:
- through the system of sending documents;
- by archiving photos.
Both options are easy to execute and do not require special skills. If the system displays a message that the selected file is not a photo, then carefully check the file type for possible restrictions.
Document Submission System.
Through the document sending system
First you need to make sure that the application is updated to the latest version. In order to send a picture or photo through the “Documents” section, follow the algorithm below.
- Open the WhatsApp app and chat with the person to whom you want to send the photo..
- Click on the “Attachments” button. It is shown as a paper clip in the message input line..
- Go to the “Documents” section. Here, most likely, different files that are on the phone, but not photos, will be shown. Therefore, you need to click on the button “View other documents”.
- In the list that opens, select “Images”, and then – the desired image.
- Click Submit.
This option helps bypass the compression system, which degrades the quality. If for some reason it does not fit, you can use the second method.
Photo Archiving
Another advantage of this method is the ability to share multiple images at once. In this case, you do not have to select one image each time, especially if there are several interlocutors.
Archiving.
You can archive not only on your smartphone, but also on your computer, followed by downloading the archive to your phone, which is even more convenient. For archiving use special applications, some of which (for example, WinRar and WinZip) can already be preinstalled on the computer.
Select the files to be sent with the mouse and right-click on one of them. In the context menu that appears, select the Archive item. After that, a program will open where you can choose the path to save the archive. When the archive is created, transfer it to your smartphone in any convenient way, for example, via a USB cable, Bluetooth or cloud storage (download to disk, and then download to your phone).
To perform backup via phone, you will also need a special application. Having opened it, you need to select photos and add them to the archive.
The created archive is sent to the interlocutor through the “Documents”, as described above. True, this option is not suitable for users of iPhones. Due to the limitations of the operating system, owners of IOS-based phones need to first upload the picture to iCloud as a file, and then share this file with the interlocutor via the messenger.
